This role will be based in Mountain View, CA. Join LinkedIn's Trust Engineering team as a Senior Staff Security Engineer in our Incident Response team, where you'll play a pivotal role in safeguarding LinkedIn's members and platform against persistent and adversarial abuse. You'll work alongside Product, Engineering and Investigators to create cutting-edge technologies to fight abuse and fraud at scale. This role focuses on building proactive detection and incident response capabilities leveraging AI, machine learning, and innovative engineering practices. You'll work at the confluence of engineering, security, and trust operations to ensure a safe and trusted environment for LinkedIn's global user base. Key Responsibilities: Incident Response Leadership: Lead technical response to major incidents, mitigating adversarial abuse such as phishing, scams and account integrity attacks. Develop automated workflows and runbooks to detect and mitigate abuse incidents at scale. Create and implement incident response methodologies for rapid, efficient, and cross-functional management of adversarial abuse. Drive detection strategy, and collaborate with other Eng leaders to develop systems that detect abusive patterns early through AI/ML-based clustering, anomaly detection, and signals intelligence. Engineering Execution: Implement and scale solutions for a variety of abuse types while delivering actionable insights for mitigations at the product level. Design process and technology for operational efficiency, such as real-time dashboards, triage widgets, and high-impact post-mortem processes. Author rules for enforcement that augment existing ML systems. Cross-Team Collaboration: Build and maintain partnerships with Trust Operations, InfoSec, and engineering teams to ensure intelligence sharing, unified strategies, and cohesive defensive workflows. Represent the Incident Response and Investigations teams to Senior leaders across the company. Innovation & Organizational Growth: Spearhead the development of advanced, agentic AI technologies and automated triage frameworks. Deliver high-leverage infrastructure that enhances LinkedIn's detection and response capabilities while driving resiliency across the Trust organization. Basic Qualifications: BS/BA in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent technical experience 5+ years of experience building large-scale abuse detection and mitigation systems in collaborative, cross-disciplinary environments. 5+ years of experience solving complex problem spaces in security, detection engineering, and operational workflows. Experience in crafting incident response frameworks and engineering solutions leveraging AI/ML for scalable detection and automation. Experience in delivering high-impact, production-grade tooling and processes to address evolving abuse challenges. Preferred Qualifications: Track Record of Innovation: Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, prototype, and bring to production innovative solutions addressing abuse detection and incident response challenges. Large-Scale System Expertise: Experience designing and maintaining high-throughput, scalable systems to address real-time security issues on platforms with global reach. Hands-On Experience with Detection and Automation Platforms: Experience building IR platforms that integrate modular tools with AI to improve situational awareness and response time. Strong Communication and Mentorship Skills: Ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to broader audiences and mentor junior engineers in building advanced detection and response capabilities.
