Manager, Software Engineering - Expressive Ai

If you're excited to shape the future of design and collaboration, join us! The Expressive Ai team is responsible for applying generative AI models to design problems at Figma. As the manager of this team, you'll make this possible by leading a team of engineers focused on integrating AI techniques into creative workflows, which are central to the future of the design experience at Figma. In addition to surfacing these capabilities in Figma's flagship design editor, you'll also work with partner teams across other Figma products (e.g., Buzz, Slides, FigJam, etc.) to identify ways to surface these capabilities across Figma's product ecosystem. We're looking for an experienced and accomplished engineering leader to join us in our mission to scale Figma while upholding the quality and craft our users love. You'll partner closely with Product, Design, Data, Marketing, and GTM to chart the course for these features and use them to help Figma further deepen its engagement with designers. This is a full time role that can be held from our NYC hub or remotely in the Eastern time zone of the United States. What You'll Do At Figma:
Partner with Product and Design to build and execute a long-term roadmap that delivers a world-class user experience for designers in Figma Work closely with cross-functional partners and engineering teams to push the boundaries of what's possible through the application of AI to creative problems Hire, manage, support, and develop a team of engineers, including staff level engineers Establish trust within and across teams by creating accountability and a positive work environment in partnership with other organizational leaders Grow your career within an engaged and creative engineering community Figma is committed to building an inclusive and diverse team and culture. 4+ years of experience hiring and leading teams as an engineering manager Ability to think strategically about engineering and product roadmaps, on both short and longer term time horizons Demonstrated experience applying advancements in AI from both engineering and product perspectives, with a specific focus on LLMs, diffusion models, and image/video generation Proven leadership in building high-performing, highly engaged engineering teams, with a strong track record of motivating, mentoring, and guiding senior engineers while hiring top industry talent Exceptional ability to work cross-functionally across Product, Design, and Marketing, as well as collaborating with other engineering teams to ship both customer and internal-facing projects A strong sense of technical curiosity, a willingness to learn and grow alongside your team, and a genuine passion for design and craft While Not Required, It's An Added Plus If You Also Have:

Annual Base Salary Range (SF/NY Hub): $250,000 - $350,000 USD Figma offers equity to employees, as well a competitive package of additional benefits, including health, dental & vision, retirement with company contribution, parental leave & reproductive or family planning support, mental health & wellness benefits, generous PTO, company recharge days, a learning & development stipend, a work from home stipend, and cell phone reimbursement.
