PRIMARY PURPOSE: Responsible for supervising, maintaining and cleaning of all District facilities to meet District standards of cleanliness.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification

Minimum high school diploma, GED or acceptable equivalent Driving record that meets the requirements of the district's insurance carrier

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in maintenance and repair of custodial equipment Ability to operate cleaning equipment Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies and inventory Ability to provide instruction and direction to custodial staff Effective English communication skills both oral and written Demonstrate appropriate computer skills Ability to operate security and safety systems Ability to communicate effectively (verbal), Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions; Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel; Ability to meet deadlines and alter work priorities. Ability to provide leadership; Effective interpersonal skills

Preferred Experience: Three (3) years experience in custodial services with above-average evaluations from a supervisor. Head custodian experience or equivalent preferred.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Custodial Management

Assist in developing work schedules and shift assignments. Keep records and makes requests for supplies, materials, uniforms and equipment to Plant Operations Supervisor. Assume responsibility for inventory, maintenance, and repair of custodial equipment. Perform custodial inspections and report results to Supervisor. Supervise custodians as needed. Maintain effective communication. Safety

Maintain safety standards in accordance with federal, state, district, and insurance regulations and train custodians on proper and safe use of equipment and chemicals. Ensure that established safety procedures are followed including lifting and climbing. Make sure that tools and equipment are operated and chemicals handled according to established safety procedures. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor Follow established procedures for locking, checking and safeguarding facilities. Strive constantly to promote the safety, health, and comfort of the students and employees. Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency Inventory and Equipment

Keep records on supplies, materials, uniforms, equipment and reports needs to Plant Operations Supervisor. Assume responsibility for care and conditions of custodial equipment. Perform inspections of building conditions and make reports of conditions needing attention to building administrator or designee. Assume responsibility for reporting needed maintenance repair including major repairs in electrical, carpeting, plumbing, etc. to the Supervisor, Principal or designee.

EQUIPMENT USED: Two-way Radio; Buffer; Stripper; Vacuums; Shampoo machine; Scrubber; Noble Floor Machine Ladders; Hand and Power Tools; Forklift; Hydraulic Lifts; District Vehicles and Trailers; Standard office equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Posture : Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; may work in tiring and uncomfortable positions Motion:

Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding; regular grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving Lifting : Regular moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds); occasional heavy lifting (45 pounds and over) Environment : Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, noise, vibration; exposure to chemical and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent district wide travel Mental Demands : Maintain emotional control under stress;
