Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Horizon VDI Admin supporting the Army Training Services DoD program to provide secure, compliant, and highly available virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions that support DoD users across classified and unclassified environments. This position is fully onsite in Alexandria, VA. Active TS/SCI Clearance Required. Responsibilities: Work closely with systems engineers, cybersecurity analysts, network teams, and program leadership to ensure secure, high-performance virtual desktop environments across multiple classified and unclassified networks. Regular collaboration will include aligning on configuration standards, deployment timelines, and compliance objectives to support mission-critical operations. Partner with technical teams to troubleshoot user access issues, remediate security findings, and respond to operational incidents. Leverage cross-team input and performing root cause analysis, the Horizon VDI Administrator will help implement sustainable solutions that maintain system integrity and mission readiness. Engineering and maintaining VMware Horizon VDI environments, applying DISA STIGs, managing gold images and application layers, supporting RMF/ATO activities, and ensuring continuous availability across classified and unclassified networks. Use tools and technologies such as VMware Horizon (Instant Clones, App Volumes, DEM), vSphere/ESXi, PowerShell/PowerCLI, DISA STIG Viewer, SCAP Compliance Checker, eMASS, ACAS, and HBSS. Ensure systems are secure, optimized, and audit-ready, contributing directly to the success and compliance of mission operations. Required Experience: Active TS/SCI clearance 5+ years of related experience in systems engineering, virtualization, or VDI administration Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science Experience with: VMware Horizon, vSphere, Windows Server, Active Directory, PowerShell, DISA STIGs, RMF/eMASS, ACAS, HBSS, SIEM, TLS/FIPS configuration, App Volumes, Instant Clones, UA Supports classified environments up to IL6; occasional travel (~10%); may require off-hours maintenance for patching or security updates Preferred Skills: VMware NSX-T or F5/NSX Advanced Load Balancer (ALB) experience (for micro-segmentation and secure VDI access) vGPU integration (e.g., NVIDIA A16/A40 or AMD) for CAD, GIS, or AI/ML workloads Horizon Cloud on Azure/AWS GovCloud implementation experience Experience with Zero Trust Architecture and segmentation in VDI environments Knowledge of DevOps tools and automation (e.g., Packer, Ansible, Terraform) for image and infrastructure deployment Compensation: $145,000 - $155,000 depending on experience and degree.
