The LEA seeks a creative, highly organized, and detail-oriented individual to serve as Local GEAR UP New Mexico (GUNM) Data Coordinator. The GEAR UP Partnership is funded by the US Department of Education to increase the college-going rate of low-income secondary school students in LEA. GUNM offers various services and resources to help students and their families succeed throughout their college and career journey. This is a full-time, 10-month position, contingent upon external funding.

AA degree in related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred)

Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:

Understanding of and experience with student information collection and analysis for federal grant reporting

Experience with Student Information Systems (preferably Synergy)

Experience with relational database technologies (including Zoho, Asana, and SCRIBE)

Experience with data extraction, reporting, and analysis tools (Excel, STARS)

Experience with project management

Experience with event planning

Experience with communications strategies

Demonstrated knowledge of database design and data techniques

Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication

Excellent organizational skills and ability to deliver clean data promptly

Ability to work across the district departments to realize efficiencies and accomplish program goals

Ability to establish rapport with adults and adolescents and serve as a positive role model is essential.

Resources Used in Performing Job Include (but are not limited to):

Standard office equipment and vehicle for district travel. A district car may be used or if the employee uses his/her own vehicle mileage reimbursement is available.

Physical/Cognitive Requirements:

Regularly required to walk, talk, and listen. Frequently is required to stand and sit. Required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. Light lifting at times.

Essential Job Functions:

With support and guidance from the New Mexico Higher Education Department (NMHED) and the District GEAR UP New Mexico (GUNM) Coordinator, the GUNM Data Coordinator will:

Collect, enter, and report GUNM data for all middle and high school GEAR UP activities

Gather and maintain documentation and data on all activities and programs that provide services to GUNM students, their parents, and teachers

Regularly and reliably enter all student, staff, and family activity participation into the GUNM database

Compile and report data for the GUNM Regional Coordinator for program evaluation and other reporting purposes

Create requisitions, manage purchase orders, and provide timely updates to program inventories

Complete monthly and annual financial reports including requests for reimbursements, time and effort reporting, and grant matching inventories

Attend all GUNM site meetings, Zoom meetings, and regional and state trainings

Maintain documentation of data systems, standards, and procedures

Ensure integrity of data, verifying information regarding data quality and data completion

Produce timely reports as requested by the GUNM administration

Assist with Federal and State reporting of school district data including exporting and uploading to external systems

Support in the planning and implementation of many different GUNM events including, but not limited to, college visits, tutorial sessions, field trips, ceremonies, and student engagement opportunities

Perform other relevant duties that support the mission and vision of GUNM, including assisting the District Coordinator with administrative work

Demonstrates reliability as evidenced by attendance records and punctuality

Properly notifies supervisor and/or designee of absences or tardiness

Begins and completes work within the allotted time

Consistently appears in attire appropriate to the work environment

Demonstrates skill in the use of equipment including its capabilities, limitations and appropriate/special application

Protects the District’s resources through appropriate and careful use of supplies and equipment

Utilizes appropriate body mechanics to aid in the prevention of muscle strain/injury

The Truancy and Dropout Prevention Counselor will work collaboratively with the site principal and leadership team, families, city, county, and state agencies to improve attendance for habitually truant students and decrease the number of students dropping out of school. The counselor’s focus will be on whole-school prevention measures as well as targeted and intensive interventions as outlined in the 2015-2016 Truancy and Dropout Prevention Coaches RFA. Education/Training/Experience: Minimum:

Familiarize self with 2015-2016 Truancy and Dropout Prevention Coaches RFA and grant; conduct research on truancy and dropout prevention

Using the Early Warning System (EWS), design whole-school preventative measures for 70-80% of the student population (Tier 1); target interventions for 10-20% (Tier 2); and intensive interventions for 5-10% (Tier 3)

Design and implement truancy and dropout reduction programs and champion EWS at the school site

Maintain ongoing log of data for end-of-year Performance Report: students served; truancy/dropout statistics; events and programming

Establish, build and maintain case files for students in Tier 2

Participate with teams in the development of Academic/Success Improvement Plans

Establish relationships with school community partners providing social and emotional support

Assist in planning Interim Superintendent’s Fall Truancy Summit

Plan Family Nights (minimum 5) with the principal and leadership team

Provide support to students who are long-term suspended and report to Day Reporting

Solicit donations for an attendance reward system

Meet monthly with Superintendent or designee to report actions and data

Participate in monthly PLC meetings with other coaches focused on grant
