Overview
Job Title: SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) - Cloud & Database Management. REMOTE position • CONTRACT. We are seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) with a strong background in managing SQL Server environments across on-premises and cloud platforms (AWS and Azure). The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in database management functions, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, patch management, and security. Proficiency with various client tools for database connectivity is essential. Responsibilities
Database Administration: Manage SQL Server databases in on-premises and cloud environments (AWS, Azure). Perform routine maintenance tasks, including backups, patching, and upgrades. Monitor and optimize database performance to ensure efficiency. Database Management Functions: Conduct ongoing database management tasks, including performance tuning, resource optimization, backup, recovery, and security management. Implement and manage high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SQL Server replication, mirroring, and clustering. Database Migration & Schema Management: Plan and execute database migrations between different environments, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity. Perform schema refreshes, ensuring consistency across development, testing, and production environments. Utilize tools such as SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) and third-party tools for migration and schema management tasks. Cloud Platform Management: Deploy and maintain SQL Server instances on AWS and Azure. Use cloud-native tools for monitoring, backup, and recovery. Work with cloud architects to design scalable database solutions. Client Tools & Connectivity: Utilize tools like SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Azure Data Studio, and third-party connectivity tools. Manage and troubleshoot database connections, ensuring secure and efficient access across different SQL Server versions. Resolve connectivity issues across cloud and hybrid environments. Support & Troubleshooting: Provide advanced support for complex database issues, with a deep understanding of different SQL Server versions and MS SQL. Collaborate with development teams to optimize SQL queries and database designs. Ensure quick resolution of database issues to minimize downtime. Security & Compliance: Implement and enforce database security policies. Manage user access and permissions, maintaining compliance with industry standards. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of database environments, configurations, and procedures for various SQL Server versions. Generate reports on database performance, capacity, and operations. Qualifications
Education & Experience: Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 8+ years as an SQL Server DBA, with a focus on database management functions. Experience with AWS and Azure cloud platforms. Familiarity with different versions of SQL Server, including MS SQL. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of SQL Server architecture, performance tuning, backup, recovery, and security. Proficient with client tools like SSMS, Azure Data Studio, and third-party connectivity tools. Familiarity with cloud-based database services and automation tools.
