Job Summary: To scrub and assist the surgeon on all operative cases. Must have special knowledge of individualized cases and physician's preferences with the aid of a preference card. Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology OR 2 years experience. Current CPR certification. Experience in which progressive leadership, administrative and clinical competencies have been demonstrated, preferably with a minimum two years in the operating room. Management experience desirable. Current certification in BCLA or ability/commitment to achievement of certification within 60 days of employment. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to move upper extremities within full range of motion as well as stoop and bend at 90 degrees. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The exposure risk to bloodborne pathogens is great. The language skills required include speaking voice that has good quality and tone; speech that is understandable. Additional language is desirable.
