A Brief Overview
The Senior Report Developer works with customers and peers to design, develop, modify and test data marts and data models that meet the customer's needs. Requires a thorough understanding of complex large scale data models for healthcare clinical and business systems and the underlying associated processes. This role collaborates with a small team of report developers and SME to create and enhance clinical intelligence and business intelligence solutions. The current report development platform includes Sunrise Clinical Analytics and SQL Server Reporting Services.
What You Will Do
Fully engaged in all aspects of the project/reporting process. Regularly participates as the development expert for projects in meeting phase and in taskforces. Leads writing detailed functional specifications for larger projects. Presents solutions to development issues or escalates if necessary. Challenges project assumptions or process roadblocks. Communicates effective application of the project process across larger team. Leads the design of programming and process solutions for multiple business problems. Anticipates future impact to associated systems. Uses design skills to develop flexible, efficient reporting dashboards. Solves and implements changes which resolve unstructured, more complex business or technical issues which impact one or more systems. Coaches others on identifying, solving and implementing the resolution of complex problems Leads design decisions on a project team. Acts as a technical leader and has earned the customer's confidence in technical areas. Works with manager/supervisor to initiate and lead team-based initiatives across work groups. Regularly provides constructive feedback to team members. Regularly develops and manages (possibly informal) project plans for smaller teams using management techniques and tools with minimal assistance. Develop requirements and specifications in coordination with Database Administration team and UH Architects for data marts and data warehouses to support clinical and business analytics. Gather appropriate specifications for data collection and transformation requirements and build report prototypes rapidly and accurately. Writes data retrieval programs to import, extract, transfer, and load (ETL) data from heterogeneous data sources throughout the organization to support ad hoc reporting. Designs, develops and supports self-service reporting options (i.e building tabular data models). Create functional and technical documentation including as-built documents, dashboard design specifications, operating manuals, release notes and security requirements for reports created and maintained. Update documentation on an annual basis or when changes occur. Writes stored procedures and indexes, and completes code reviews in conjunction with DBA and/or development team and provides guidance to reporting team members on their code development. Perform quality assurance testing of reports and dashboards, and facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) sessions. Ensure quality of the reports prior to releasing to production. Provides technical support in retrieving data from a variety of database types and languages utilizing T-SQL as may be required. Perform quality assurance testing of reports and facilitates user acceptance testing (UAT). Ensure quality of the reports prior to releasing to production. Develops and maintains documentation templates and standards for documentation of data extraction and output specifications, reports and other requirements. Proactively identifies and addresses scalability and performance bottlenecks to support data volumes. Where appropriate, evaluate and recommend new tools in clinical intelligence, reporting, and analysis. On-call duties as required Additional Responsibilities

Bachelor's Degree Required; Computer Science/Business Management or Information System (Preferred) Work Experience
5+ years experience in IT Healthcare (Preferred) and 3+ years of experience with report development using current Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) (Required) and Experience using report writing best practices (optimization, use of joins and sub-queries)In depth understanding and experience with SQL Server Reporting services (Required) and Experience writing stored procedures, T-SQL, functions, and SQL Queries (Required) and Experience pulling data from Microsoft SQL Server databases for reports (Required) and Experience with report development using current SSRS technology (Required) and Experience with SSIS (Preferred) and Experience with Microsoft's PowerBI (Required) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to research and analyze information. (Required proficiency) Must work at a very high level of accuracy and have a broad knowledge of technical workings of database structure and reporting protocols. (Required proficiency) Ability to use complex expressions to calculate, group, filter, parameterize, optimize and format custom reports (Required proficiency) Knowledge and understanding of standardized Data Administration concepts, i.e. data modeling, data dictionary development (Required proficiency) Knowledge of programming languages, MS SQL, .Net Framework and other related systems. (Required proficiency) Strong written and verbal communication skills. (Required proficiency) Strong analytical skills with an ability to organize and communicate thoughts clearly. (Required proficiency) Knowledge of existing and emerging data warehouse technologies and database administration are a plus (Preferred proficiency) Licenses and Certifications
Microsoft Certified IT Professional Developer (MCITP) (Required) and
Microsoft SQL Server or MCDBA (Preferred) and ITIL (Preferred) PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE WITH THE FOLLOWING: • Epic Certification in at least one of the following: Cupid, OpTime, Radiant, Anesthesia, and Lumens
• Experience in case based and appointment based workflows in Epic
• Experience with Reporting Workbench and Slicer Dicer
• Experience using report writing best practices (optimization, use of joins and sub-queries) In depth understanding and experience with SQL Server Reporting services
