Compensation Base pay range: $62,524.00/yr – $76,606.00/yr.
Starting salary for BLET certified applicants is $62,524.00 with increases up to $76,606.00 for sworn service. These salaries do not include holiday pay while on patrol (13 eight‑hour days) and the Town's 401K contributions.
Employment Type Full‑time
Role Description This is a full‑time on‑site role for Police Officers located in Apex, NC. Officers will be responsible for patrolling assigned areas, responding to emergency calls, conducting criminal investigations, gathering and securing evidence, enforcing laws, and maintaining public order. Officers will also engage with the community to build trust and promote safety, participate in ongoing training, and collaborate with local organizations and residents.
Qualifications Graduation from high school, or possession of a G.E.D. AND one of the following:
Completion of a North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Course and possession of an NC BLET Certificate, or currently attending a North Carolina BLET Program,
Currently attending a North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program,
Currently employed in‑state as a sworn, full‑time law enforcement officer with no more than a one (1) year break in service,
Two (2) years or more of full‑time, out‑of‑state sworn law enforcement service with no more than a three (3) year break in service.
Special Qualifications
The ability to complete and pass the North Carolina Police Officer Physical Agility Test (POPAT) prior to a formal interview and conditional offer.
The ability to complete and pass an extensive background investigation, a C.V.S.A. examination, Drug Screen, Psychological Examination, Physical Exam and Firearms Qualification prior to appointment.
