Serves felony and misdemeanor warrants, both in‑county and out‑of‑county; locate wanted felons; serves criminal and civil subpoenas in‑county and out‑of‑county; serves civil process papers, including, but not limited to, delinquent taxes, divorce papers, protective and restraining orders, and child support papers; transports prisoners out of the county and out‑of‑state; transports mental patients to state hospital and contract hospitals or institutions; and serves as backup to all SO deputies and other law enforcement agencies as needed.

Serves felony and misdemeanor warrants, both in‑county and out‑of‑county.

Tracks down wanted felons using any available means, including reviewing arrest records; online websites; questioning relatives, friends, enemies, and landlords; staking out homes and businesses; and working with other agencies.

Serves criminal and civil subpoenas in‑county and out‑of‑county.

Serves civil process papers, including delinquent taxes, divorce papers, protective and restraining orders, and child support papers.

Serves executions, including collecting money owed and/or seizing property to satisfy the judgement.

Conducts tax sales for taxing entities in Midland County.

Transports prisoners from various places in state, and nationwide back to Midland County.

Assists other officers and law enforcement agencies in transporting and serving papers as needed.

Assists Midland County Crime Stoppers with outstanding warrants on felons.

Maintains county vehicle, and keeps maintenance records.

Conducts tax sales for taxing entities in Midland County.

Assists with patrol duties as needed.

Enforces the constitution and laws of the United States and of the State of Texas.

Maintain county issues equipment in a sage and cost-effective manner.

Rotate on‑call status for Mental Health Section.

Regular and timely attendance is required.

Must possess the physical and/or mental abilities required to perform the essential functions of the job.

Shall abide by all Midland County Policies and City, County Ordinances, State and Federal Laws.

Performs any assignment issued by chain of command and/or Sheriff.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. High school graduation, plus at least one year of experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Basic certification by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Criminal and civil law; investigation and crime prevention methods; and identification records processes and procedures.

Safely operate vehicles, firearms, and specialized equipment; physically restrain individuals; read and write reports, letters, and memos; operate a computer; apply criminal investigative techniques; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other law enforcement agencies, the District and County Attorney’s offices, other Official employees, and the general public; demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written communication; maintain accurate records; and maintain appropriate necessary certifications. Texas driver’s license applicable to job responsibilities, and good driving record.
