Position Title: RandD Software Developer, Assc Employee Classification: RandD Software Developer, Assc College/Division: Physical Science Laboratory Department: 470725-PSL TELEMETRY MISSILE SYSTEMS Internal or External Search: External - Open to all applicants Location: Las Cruces Summary: Join the TMS team as a PSL RandD Software Developer, Assc Classification Summary: Using established procedures and working under immediate supervision, performs assigned tasks related to providing functional and empirical analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of software operating systems on a classified project, including but not limited to, utility software, development software, and diagnostic software. Participates in the development of test strategies, devices and systems. Classification Standard Duties: Works as part of a Government/contractor team. Using established procedures and working under immediate supervision, performs task such as: Full lifecycle application development. Designing, coding and debugging applications in various software languages. Software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, software review, identification of code metrics, system risk analysis, software reliability analysis. Object-oriented Design and Analysis (OOA and OOD). Software modeling and simulation. Front end graphical user interface design. Software testing and quality assurance. Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation. Support, maintain and document software functionality. Integrate software with existing systems. Evaluate and identify new technologies for implementation. Project Planning and Project Management. Maintain standards compliance. Implement localization or globalization of software. Work is routine and instructions are usually detailed. Little evaluation, originality or ingenuity is required of this classification. Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency Required Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field. Required Experience: No previous work experience required. Required Certification/License: None Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge and understanding of principles, procedures, regulations, and standards applicable to the job. Understanding of the University's mission, vision and goals. Short- and long-term planning; problem analysis and resolution; report preparation and presentation; interpersonal and organizational communication, both oral and written. Develop and maintain effective working relationships; maintain accurate and orderly records; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct activities. Using established procedures and working under immediate supervision, performs task such as: Preferred Qualifications Current DoD Secret Security Clearance Additional experience with telemetry software and experience in interfacing with hardware. Additional experience with ERP Software, production workflow optimization, or automation. Special Requirements of the Position Must be a U.S. Citizen Must maintain clearance throughout employment Position is subject to random drug testing in compliance with its drug-free workforce requirements. This position has been established as a primary key position under the All Hazard Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) and is essential to operational continuity and/or recovery. In an emergency situation, primary key positions are required to report to work unless directed by supervisor or public safety authorities not to report for health and safety reasons.
