Litigation Secretary / Legal Assistant Downtown San Diego, CA

Location: Downtown San Diego, CA

Schedule: Hybrid (onsite with flexibility for remote work)

Compensation: $87,000 $100,000 + bonuses and benefits

About The Opportunity

An established law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Secretary / Legal Assistant to support its busy Litigation team in downtown San Diego. This role is ideal for a highly organized professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and brings precision, responsiveness, and a proactive mindset to their work. The position involves supporting attorneys handling complex corporate and commercial litigation in both state and federal courts. Candidates should have at least 7 years of experience in high-volume civil litigation and the ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Draft, proofread, and format pleadings, discovery requests/responses, motions, subpoenas, and correspondence.
  • Handle e-filing in both state and federal courts (without relying on a full-service provider).
  • Maintain attorney calendars and track litigation deadlines.
  • Communicate with clients, courts, and opposing counsel in a professional and timely manner.
  • Support attorneys with varied work styles and preferences.
  • Assist with preparation and logistics for mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Litigation Secretary or Legal Assistant in civil litigation.
  • Strong background supporting attorneys in commercial and business litigation.
  • Bankruptcy litigation experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with state and federal e-filing systems.
  • Excellent organizational, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and support multiple attorneys effectively.
  • Professional, detail-oriented, and team-focused.
