This position is subject to callouts and occasionally requires non-standard shifts, usually without prior notice, and involves participation in the district’s emergency response efforts. The Minor B/Emergency Contracts Branch Chief may work in a climate-controlled office under artificial lighting while at their base of operation in the district office. May be required to travel and work outdoors occasionally and may be exposed to dirt, noise, uneven surfaces, and varying temperatures and weather conditions. When fieldwork is involved, is responsible for ensuring proper safety precautions are communicated and followed by staff. Breadth and depth of experience in construction contract administration, including but not limited to change orders, field inspection and testing. Provide examples that demonstrate your experience in analyzing staffing and resource needs to develop work plans; monitoring project scopes, costs, and schedules; and managing project and contract changes. Experience with Highway Maintenance (HM) and State Highway Operation and Protection Program (SHOPP) programs (i.e. bridge, roadway, pavement preservation, Minors, emergency, and mandated programs). Provide examples that demonstrate your experience in acting in a lead capacity, assigning duties, evaluating employee work performance, and evaluating employee abilities. Experience with personnel management and supervision. Demonstrated ability to successfully manage and lead work teams to deliver quality work products efficiently and on schedule. Provide examples that demonstrate your experience in performing field inspections/data collection and coordinating with field maintenance and construction staff. Experience responding to field emergencies, evaluating infrastructure issues and damages, and preparing and overseeing the implementation of emergency contracts. Provide examples that demonstrate your experience in preparing written correspondence, communicating and coordinating with internal/external partners, organizing meetings, speaking in public, and making presentations.
