to join our Community Development Department. In this dynamic role, you'll provide essential zoning and planning guidance to the public, review development proposals for compliance, and contribute to shaping the built environment-whether at the front counter or through ongoing planning work.

Front Counter Planner

or

We're Looking for a Candidate With:

A bachelor's degree in urban or regional planning, geography, landscape architecture, or a related field. At least two years of relevant planning experience in the public or private sector (a master's degree may substitute for one year). A strong understanding of planning principles and regulatory frameworks. Exceptional communication, organization, and research skills. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. A valid driver's license AICP certification preferred but not required. As a Front Counter Planner, you'll:

Work directly with applicants to guide them through the permitting process. Review development proposals to ensure compliance with zoning and land use regulations. Provide clear, informed responses to public inquiries both in person and in writing. Prepare visual materials to support development proposals and staff reports. Conduct site inspections, evaluate plans for compliance, and participate in public meetings. Coordinate with internal staff and external agencies on complex applications. Specializations within this track include:

Site Disturbance:

Perform technical reviews, site inspections, and support applicants through complex land disturbance projects. Building Permits:

Review building and floodplain development for regulatory compliance and ensure conditions of approval are met. As a Current Planner, you'll:

Review and process a variety of land use applications such as subdivisions, zone changes, and conditional use permits. Research and draft land use regulations and ordinances. Contribute to updates of the Comprehensive Plan. Analyze community needs and help shape long-term planning strategies. Prepare technical reports and present findings in public forums. Participate in evening and weekend meetings with community stakeholders.
