Position Chief Mechanical Estimator
Job Description Highland Consulting Group, a construction specific recruiting firm specializing in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions, has partnered with a stable and growing
mechanical contractor
in the
Long Island, NY
area to help find a
Chief Estimator . This position will be overseeing a small team and guiding the day-to-day functions of the estimating department.
Key Responsibilities
Will be responsible for overseeing the estimating process and estimating team to ensure that the department is meeting company goals and customer deadlines.
Will prepare, review and sign off on estimates and bids prior to submitting them to the customer.
Will manage and enhance the cost databases for improved estimating accuracy.
Will obtain pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
Will lead department meetings to review open bid status.
Will prepare/create individual bids.
Qualifications
7+ years of estimating experience in commercial mechanical construction (HVAC, piping and controls) with a minimum of 3 years in a lead/management role.
Experience estimating projects of up to $10 million.
Ability to develop budgets, establish timelines, and produce accurate cost estimates.
Experience with negotiated and plan-and-spec estimates.
Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to delegate tasks to ensure efficiency.
Computer software proficiency using Excel for estimating.
A four-year degree in construction management or a related field is but not required.
Salary range for this role is from $140,000.00 to $165,000.00 depending upon experience.
