Department of Transportation Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of the Maintenance District Division Chief, a Supervising Transportation Engineer, the Minor B/Emergency Contracts Branch Chief is responsible for directing and supervising the work activities of a group of engineering employees in developing and implementing minor projects and emergency contracts. This position is subject to callouts and occasionally requires non-standard shifts, usually without prior notice, and involves participation in the districts emergency response efforts. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. The Minor B/Emergency Contracts Branch Chief may work in a climate?controlled office under artificial lighting while at their base of operation in the district office. May be required to travel and work outdoors occasionally and may be exposed to dirt, noise, uneven surfaces, and varying temperatures and weather conditions. When fieldwork is involved, is responsible for ensuring proper safety precautions are communicated and followed by staff. Minimum Requirements
