Direct message the job poster from Blue (YC S25)
Founder | YC S25 | Building for Humanity. Hardware Systems Engineer or Electrical Engineer
About Blue
We’re building the next interface between humans and intelligent systems, real‑world control through hardware. Blue combines hardware, firmware, and AI to let users control any phone or device directly, through natural language and gestures. Our goal is to reimagine how people interact with technology.
What You’ll Do You’ll lead hardware development for our next‑generation Blue Bud prototype, a compact, intelligent hardware system combining audio, video capture, and local processing. Your job is to turn concept into working hardware: fast prototyping, circuit design, assembly, testing, and scaling toward manufacturable design. In short: you’ll own everything from breadboards to EVT prototypes, working closely with our firmware, AI, and manufacturing and design teams.
Responsibilities Design, prototype, and iterate PCBs integrating
USB‑C video capture and PD
Audio (mic array, ADC, DSP)
Low‑power wake‑word chip / MCU
Rapidly prototype and bring up boards (soldering, debugging, logic analysis).
Collaborate with firmware and ID teams to integrate mechanical + electrical systems.
Test, validate, and prepare DFM/EVT documentation for manufacturing partners.
Source components, work with vendors, and ensure prototypes are ready for user testing.
Ideal Background 2–6 years of experience in consumer electronics, robotics, or IoT hardware.
Strong in electronics design + hands‑on prototyping — can build, test, and fix fast.
Comfortable with tools like Altium / KiCad, oscilloscopes, soldering, 3D printing, etc.
Experience with audio, USB‑C PD, BLE, or embedded systems is a big plus.
Startup or lab experience — you thrive in fast, iterative environments.
Passionate about building things that actually ship — not just designing them.
Personality Fit Fast, curious, and self-driven.
High energy, loves solving problems hands‑on.
Thrives in small teams and doesn’t wait for instructions.
Excited about building something new from the ground up.
Location / Logistics Based in the Bay Area, On‑Site
Full‑time
Compensation is flexible based on experience (startup + equity).
