$90,000.00/yr - $120,000.00/yr

Job Title: Accounting Supervisor

Location: Sacramento, CA (Hybrid or On-site)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounting Supervisor to join our healthcare finance team in Sacramento. This role will oversee daily accounting operations, lead a team of accounting professionals, and ensure compliance with healthcare-related financial regulations. The ideal candidate will bring leadership, technical expertise, and a passion for improving financial processes that support patient care and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor a team of accountants handling accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger functions
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Manage financial reporting and reconciliation activities
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex accounting issues and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Implement and maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP, GASB, and healthcare-specific regulations
  • Support audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting (e.g., CalPERS, ACA, CMS)
  • Drive process improvements and system enhancements, including ERP and AI tools for documentation and audit readiness

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory role
  • Strong understanding of healthcare finance, Medicaid/Medicare programs, and drug rebate processing
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Workday, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills
  • Experience with governmental accounting standards (GASB) and healthcare audits is a plus

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience in hospital or medical center settings
  • Familiarity with CalPERS pay schedules and state agency benefits
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor junior staff
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem‑solving and innovation
