Calling all Civil Engineers! The Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM), Storm Water Quality Division is recruiting for two Civil Engineer III positions located at Kapolei Hale. In Honolulu, the Board of Water Supply also has two Civil Engineer III openings: one in the Capital Projects Division, Design & Plans Review Branch, Design Section; the other in the Water Resources Division, Long‑Range Planning Branch.
Responsibilities
Professional engineering projects related to the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Storm Water Management Program.
Planning, design, construction management, product evaluation, research & development, system optimization, database management, and Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping.
Participation in periodic and temporary cross‑training and supplementary work exercises to support regulatory obligations of the City’s storm water permit.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from a regionally accredited four‑year college or university. Foreign credentials must be comparable and supported by a foreign credential evaluation (FCE).
Experience:
Two years of non‑registered professional civil engineering experience demonstrating: principles and practices of civil engineering; engineering mathematics; engineering mechanics and mechanics of materials; hydraulic, structural, mechanical, electrical, and sanitary engineering principles. Must be able to design work, supervise construction, analyze stresses, supervise a small team, and prepare engineering and inspection reports.
License:
Possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license.
Salary Positions at the Department of Facility Maintenance: $6,528 to $7,317 per month, commensurate with experience and pending approval.
Positions at the Honolulu Board of Water Supply: $6,528 per month entry rate.
