What You Will Be Doing In this position, you will be part of the statewide Public Assistance Eligibility Team. Together, we will help Alaskan families, elders, and those in need reach higher levels of independence and self‑sufficiency.
Eligibility Technicians assist the public by connecting them to a variety of public assistance programs and services provided by the agency.

The Working Environment You Can Expect This position joins a statewide eligibility workflow team in local Public Assistance offices across the state. The work location is our Nome Office at 214 W Front Street, Nome, Alaska 99762.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess some or all of the following position‑specific competencies in addition to the minimum qualifications listed below:
Customer Service:
Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
Computer Skills:
Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
Resilience:
Deals effectively with pressure; remains optimistic and persistent, even under adversity. Recovers quickly from setbacks.
Self-Management:
Sets well‑defined and realistic personal goals; works with minimal supervision; demonstrates responsibility.
Oral Communication:
Expresses information clearly and convincingly to individuals or groups while observing audience and context.
Additional Requirements: One year of entry‑level experience as an Eligibility Technician 1 or equivalent experience. Post‑secondary education in relevant fields may substitute for required experience.
