The Project Engineer provides technical engineering and project control support on heavy civil and transportation construction projects, working closely with the Project Manager to implement policies and procedures required for project success. The Project Engineer maintains knowledge of contract specifications, documents, the scope of work (including subcontracts and purchase orders), and assists in developing project status reports and profit projections.
Responsibilities
Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen and Crews on project deliverables.
Process/manage material deliveries; ensure materials are inspected for quantity and quality and comply with contract documents.
Manage and negotiate subcontractor and material contracts.
Assist in developing and updating the project schedule.
Coordinate and schedule shop drawings and submittals.
Maintain a complete and current record of submittals, approvals and resubmittals, including letters of transmittal and dates of each transaction.
Engage in cost control system operations and analyze construction costs.
Participate in monthly forecasting of revenue and cost accruals.
Accumulate data and prepare monthly pay estimates.
Process and estimate change orders and requests for information as directed by the Project Manager.
Follow OHLA USA policies and safety procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
Heavy Civil Construction background with 5+ years of field experience
Safety oriented; 10-hour and 30-hour OSHA certifications are preferred
Strong organizational and time management skills
Strong work ethic and ability to function as a team player
Ability to access all points of a construction site in varying climates and environments
Previous NYCT experience is a plus
Previous bridge/steel/concrete experience strongly preferred
