Nurse Consultant I (Family, Infant, and Preschool Program (FIPP))

– North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Join the Nurse Consultant I role within the Family, Infant and Preschool Program (FIPP) to provide nursing assessments, caregiver coaching, and family-centered supports for children birth through eight who have or are at risk for disabilities, and to support families and referral sources through cross-disciplinary, evidence-based practice. Responsibilities

Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team providing early intervention and family support to children birth through eight with or at risk for disabilities and their families. Provide nursing-related assessments and evaluations for children; instruct parents and caregivers in nursing-related activities to attain desired outcomes. Consult and provide technical assistance to staff, community paraprofessionals, professionals, and agencies. Learn and apply cross-disciplinary evidence-based early intervention practices, including caregiver coaching, family-centered practices, resource-based practices, and natural learning environment practices. Maintain contact with referral sources and identify potential referral sources to increase referrals. Participate in activities supporting FIPP’s mission, including research, publications, program evaluation, training, and other activities related to children’s healthy development and family wellbeing. Qualifications

Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina. One year of experience in the area of specialization. Knowledge of basic nursing principles and techniques with specialized knowledge related to health and development of children birth through eight. Knowledge of health and wellness issues for families, family systems theories, and family-centered practices. Knowledge of community systems and the ability to provide patient and family information on services provided by FIPP and other organizations. Knowledge about community resources and the ability to locate and seek resources for children and families; experience in evaluating children and families; experience in developing community resources, research, training, and model development. Skilled in child assessments and in communicating with families at all levels of understanding; ability to actively listen, identify strengths, goals, resources, and create individualized plans of action. Salary Range: $59,732.00 – $98,557.00 Recruitment Range: $59,732.00 – $98,557.00 Sign-on bonus of $10,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s), contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval. Additional Information

Position is Exempt from certain provisions of the State Human Resources Act (GS 126). Shift Hours: 1st shift (8:00am–5:00pm), Monday – Friday, with occasional evening hours.
