Position Details
Title: Cardiac Sonographer – Hospital/Clinic (ELECTROCARDIOLOGY)
Payroll title: ULTRASOUND TCHNO PRN
Pay Scale: $59.54 – $81.45 per hour (Hourly Equivalent: $65.49 – $81.45)
Appointment type: Career, 100%
Location: Hillcrest and La Jolla, various clinics
Total openings: 2 (Senior / Principal level)
Responsibilities Incumbent must understand the physics of ultrasound, demonstrate advanced knowledge of full range of echocardiographic procedures, cardiac anatomy and physiology, and thorough understanding of cardiac abnormalities and disease processes. Performs 3D echocardiography, strain imaging, and advanced techniques per protocol. Follows established imaging protocols, modifies the examination to ensure high‑quality cardiac echo information. Performs diagnostic recordings, accurate measurements and calculations of Doppler data under stress with or without enhancement agents. May administer agents, place IV lines, and perform other non‑invasive cardiovascular tests including ECG, ambulatory ECG, blood pressure, treadmill stress tests. Contributes to workflow and scheduling as part of a self‑directed team. Trains students, residents, fellows, and junior sonographers. Works independently, prioritizes tasks, and works varied shifts including nights, weekends, and after‑hours call.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Cardiac Medical Sonography program or equivalent experience (CAAHEP accredited).
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS).
Basic Life Support (BLS) at hire with commitment to obtain BART within six months.
Four years of relevant experience (Principal level) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to place IVs (training provided).
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Registered Cardiac Sonographer issued by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
Experience with adult congenital and pediatric cardiac imaging.
Special Conditions
Work various hours and locations as needed.
Availability for on‑call including weekends.
Employment subject to criminal background check and pre‑employment medical examination.
Pay Transparency Annual full pay range: $136,743 – $170,068 (prorated if less than 100%). Factors include experience, skills, education, and certifications.
