Onsite Support Specialist – South Houston, TX Olympus has been advancing medical technologies for over 100 years, committed to improving patient care worldwide.

Job Description The primary role is to provide customer support for Olympus equipment in the Operating Room and other specified departments, focusing on equipment management, basic troubleshooting, and training for proper care and handling of Olympus equipment. This project‑based position depends on customer contract length and covers the Clear Lake and League City, Texas areas.

Responsibilities

Assist Olympus personnel with equipment installation.

Coordinate schedules with audiovisual providers and boom manufacturers for installation.

Set‑up and break‑down plug‑and‑play video tower/system equipment according to IFU instructions.

Provide in‑service sessions for operating room personnel on Olympus equipment based on staff needs.

Maintain clinical equipment, including pre‑use inspection and malfunction evaluation.

Evaluate and resolve equipment malfunctions, performing basic electronic troubleshooting.

Coordinate periodic equipment evaluations with customers to determine repair or replacement needs.

Perform routine maintenance and periodic functionality testing to prevent operational issues.

Work with customers to schedule inspection, repair, or replacement of damaged or lost equipment.

Follow procedures to report lost or damaged equipment.

Coordinate with customer shipping/receiving divisions and Olympus Service groups for repairs.

Monitor and report Olympus repair expenditures and significant issues.

Maintain a professional appearance, work ethic, and attitude.

Adhere to HIPAA and related patient confidentiality policies.

Qualifications – Required

Associate’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.

Minimum of 1 year of related equipment experience or knowledge in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, nursing, computer science, or a related discipline.

Solid knowledge of electronics and audiovisual equipment.

Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office; strong verbal and written communication skills.

Comfortable with public speaking and in‑service demonstrations to groups.

High degree of self‑reliance, initiative, and creativity.

Excellent work ethic, self‑starter with excellent time management and independent judgment.

Eager to learn, accept feedback, and deliver superior customer service.

Travel less than 20% annually; potential overnight and air travel; valid driver’s license.

Adherence to all customer and vendor credentialing requirements when visiting medical facilities.

Preferred

Operating room experience and demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, surgical procedures, and aseptic technique.
