The Production Manager oversees daily operations of the production department, ensuring products are manufactured efficiently, safely, and according to quality standards. This role supervises and coordinates the activities of supervisors and their teams engaged in operating a variety of machines used to fill, label, lot, and assemble products. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader with strong organizational skills, proven manufacturing experience, and the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team. Key Responsibilities
Review production orders and schedules to determine product data such as types, quantities, specifications, and delivery timelines to effectively plan department operations. Plan and coordinate production activities establishing priorities and sequences for production filling and assembly. Monitor production and operating reports, resolving manufacturing, operational, and maintenance issues to minimize costs and prevent delays. Assist team in machine setup and adjustments to ensure compliance with product and company specifications. Oversee labeling, lot numbering, sampling, and coordination of materials to proper bin location. Inspect and measure product in conjunction with Quality Control, to verify conformance to standards. Compile, store, and maintain production, maintenance, and sanitation logs. Ensure and verify that all Batch Production Records are completed accurately, thoroughly, and in full detail, in compliance with company procedures. Develop or revise standard operating procedures and ensure team compliance with safety and quality standards. Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, product quality, and equipment performance. Utilize lean manufacturing principles to identify and eliminate waste, optimize workflow, and improve production throughput. Lead and participate in continuous improvement procedures such as 5S, Kaizen events, and root cause analysis to drive operational excellence. Partner with inventory and purchasing teams to ensure raw materials, components, and packaging supplies are available to meet production schedules. Monitor inventory levels and work‑in‑progress to minimize excess and obsolete stock while ensuring optimal material flow. Work with finance to ensure production and equipment costs are optimized. Suggest changes in workflow, equipment usage, and working conditions to improve productivity and employee satisfaction. Collaborate cross‑functionally with other departments to ensure production goals align with company objectives and customer commitments. Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervise Production Supervisors and teams within the Filling Department. Interview, hire, train, schedule, assign work, and manage performance. Enforce company policies, safety standards, and regulatory compliance. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment focused on accountability, communication, and continuous improvement. Education & Experience
Education:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. Experience:
Minimum 5+ years of production or manufacturing management experience required; experience in a cosmetics, skincare, or similar regulated environment preferred. GMP knowledge or experience a must. Strong leadership and people management skills with a proven ability to develop and motivate teams. Proficient in production planning, process improvement, lean manufacturing, and inventory management. Excellent problem‑solving and organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP or MRP systems a plus. NetSuite knowledge preferred. Language: Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. Ideal Candidate
