Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Manufacturing Assembly Engineer opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN.
Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Assembly Engineer for an industrial manufacturing project within the nuclear industry.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with design teams to improve manufacturability, perform quality control, and document processes.
Oversee the design, development, and optimization of assembly processes to improve efficiency and quality.
Assemble mechanical, electromechanical, or electronic parts and components using hand and power tools, following technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
Identify, diagnose, and resolve assembly problems to minimize production delays and ensure quality standards.
Monitor the assembly process to maintain high standards and implement corrective actions for non‑conformances.
Work with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to provide input on design for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
Create and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, flow charts, and control plans.
Required Qualifications
5 to 20+ years of experience in manufacturing or production engineering.
Mechanical aptitude, problem‑solving skills, and experience interpreting engineering drawings and schematics.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and diagrams.
Knowledge of specific systems such as hydraulics, pneumatics, or electronics may be required.
Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving abilities, and communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with various teams.
Preferred Qualifications
A degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
Experience with precision rotating equipment.
Experience supporting DOE or NRC‑regulated projects.
Familiarity with cleanroom and controlled environment protocols.
Other Job Requirements
United States Citizenship.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security clearance. Active clearance is a plus.
