Job Description
Primary Purpose The Staff Accountant assists in the month end close process in support of Sempra Infrastructure business entities and projects which includes preparing journal entries, reconciling ledger accounts, assisting in project reporting and helping with preparing financial statements and project reports.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the analysis in areas such as project cost reports, project analysis and business forecast for project teams.
Perform monthly project accounting transactions.
Design, systematize, implement, and maintain systems to provide visibility, control, and compliance with company policy, government regulations, and to minimize manual recording effort.
Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting.
Interact with other internal departments to research and resolve accounting related matters.
Assist business unit in preparation of long-term financial plans.
Prepare audit schedules, research historical accounting data, and provide analytical data to assist internal and external auditors as appropriate.
Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Qualifications Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related business administration field.
3+ years of professional accounting experience, preferably from a public accounting background.
Knowledge of GAAP.
Ability to identify issues, analyze data, develop, recommend, and implement solutions.
Ability to process transactions in a timely and accurate manner.
Ability to work independently and with moderate guidance from management is necessary.
Ability to switch quickly from one project to another when dictated by business needs.
Ability to identify process improvements.
Ability to put forth additional effort and work extra hours when critical projects arise.
Ability to effectively interact and communicate with others.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related business administration field (MBA).
Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Knowledge in SAP is desirable.
Work Schedule HYBRID: Work a combination of onsite and remote days each week, typically 4 days per week onsite.
