Assistant Project Manager - Environmental Engineering (Denver)
Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Engineering Assistant Project Manager to join our Environmental Services engineering team in Englewood, CO. The role is ideal for an experienced civil or environmental engineer seeking to grow into full project management responsibilities, while continuing to apply strong technical expertise in civil design, permitting, and construction support.
Responsibilities
Assist Project Managers in planning, directing, and monitoring all phases of engineering projects from concept through completion.
Support the preparation of proposals, scopes of work, cost estimates, and schedules.
Support the design of civil infrastructure including grading, drainage, and site layouts for utility, solid waste, and environmental remediation projects.
Lead and document internal project meetings and client updates.
Prepare or review design documentation including drawings, reports, and feasibility studies.
Coordinate and mentor junior engineers and field staff in technical execution and project delivery.
Promote and adhere to Burns & McDonnell’s QA/QC procedures and safety standards.
Interface with clients to strengthen relationships, understand needs, and identify new opportunities.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program.
5 years of civil/environmental engineering experience, preferably in consulting or project-based work.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) required.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain preferred.
Strong understanding of site design, permitting, and construction methods.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office; working familiarity in AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS preferred.
Demonstrated experience in project coordination, scheduling, and budgeting.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to manage client and regulatory relationships.
Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
Compensation $115,000.00 – $155,000.00 Yearly
