Overview

CACI is seeking a Paralegal (Legal Assistant I) to support the Department of Justice’s mission. This position involves working on high-profile cases in an office setting, focusing on litigation support and preparation for upcoming trials. The role includes case management and database maintenance in a litigation support capacity, with exposure to automated litigation support and eDiscovery tools and resources. The Paralegal (Legal Assistant I) works closely with federal prosecutors supporting the Health Care Fraud Unit in a fast-paced setting, assisting in investigation and prosecution of matters to enforce U.S. law. This includes support for witness interviews, deposition preparation, and in-courtroom trial support. CACI supports developing our eDiscovery workforce with tuition reimbursement for Relativity certifications, the ACEDS certification, and Paralegal Certificates. Responsibilities

Compiles, prepares, and summarizes relevant materials for use by attorneys in discovery and in preparation of motions, briefs and other legal documents. Summarizes depositions and other transcripts; maintains case files. Performs simple legal research. Indexes, tracks and controls document discovery (including documents produced and received in discovery). Indexes, tracks and exhibits and other materials at depositions and at trial. Prepares exhibit cross-references. Assists attorneys in courtroom. Reviews documents for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines and criteria. Other examples of work include compilation of documents for FOIA, production requests, Congressional inquiries, etc. Qualifications

Requires paralegal certificate, or a four-year college degree. At least one year of litigation paralegal experience or project experience related to health care, project or document management, policy, research, government staffing, publishing, or equivalent experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills; thorough knowledge and hands-on familiarity with word processing, databases (document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems. Technological proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Understanding of how electronically stored information works within an operating system, including experience managing and analyzing digital files and folders. Experience with Electronically Stored Information (ESI) tools and eDiscovery procedures; coding skills welcomed but not required. Ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure. DOJ MBI must be obtainable (US Citizenship required). What You Can Expect

This posting is for a position covered by the Service Contract Labor Standards (SCA). The pay and benefits meet or exceed the wage determination issued by the Department of Labor and incorporated into CACI’s government contract for the work location. Minimum Required Hourly Wage: $25.58. There are additional factors that influence final salary, including location, experience, skills, education, and certifications.
