Hardware Engineer (Principal Electronics Engineer)
The Ash Group is hiring a new
Hardware Engineer
(Principal Electronics Engineer) for our client ( a global technology distributor connecting leading manufacturers of electronic components and computing solutions ) based in
Carson, CA .
This role requires specialized experience in designing, developing, and testing high-reliability electronics for the
commercial aerospace industry . You will take ownership of technical projects, focusing on Variable Frequency Motor Drives (VFMDs), AC/DC Power Converters, and System Controllers, ensuring all designs meet strict airworthiness standards.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation:
Competitive pay rate of
$51 per hour .
Benefits:
Medical, dental, vision, and direct primary care benefits. After six months of employment, enjoy a 4% matched 401(k) plan with immediate 100% vesting.
Duration:
6-month contract with potential for extension and/or conversion.
Location:
Onsite (5 days/week) in Carson, CA.
What You’ll Be Doing
Design and develop
High-Complexity Electronics
and
Power Electronics
(VFMDs, AC/DC Converters, DC Valve Controllers) for commercial aerospace applications.
Perform detailed circuit analysis, including
SPICE simulation
(using Altium/OrCAD), component derating, thermal analysis, and
worst-case load analysis (WCLA) .
Lead the design and analysis of
magnetics
for EMI filters, boost/buck inductors, and other critical input/output filters.
Create and execute
PCB board bring-up
and comprehensive
Design Verification Test Procedures (DVTP)
and reports (DVTR).
Ensure all designs meet aerospace standards, including
RTCA/DO-254
and
RTCA/DO-160 , utilizing sound engineering principles and high-reliability design practices (FMEA, HALT).
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Expertise in
schematic capture and PCB layout tools
(Cadence, Altium, or OrCAD) for complex, multi-layer board design.
Strong background in
circuit analysis and simulation
using tools like
PSPICE
and
MATLAB/Simulink .
Deep knowledge of
DC-DC converters , active rectifiers, gate drives, and sophisticated
EMI filter designs .
Experience with aerospace communication protocols like
CAN, ARINC, SPI , and
RS-232 .
This leadership position requires a high degree of resourcefulness and problem-solving, offering the chance to mentor lower-level engineers and lead technical improvement projects within a critical aerospace development group.
