Our Labor and Delivery department consists of 10 labor/delivery/recovery rooms (LDRs), three ORs, three short stay/triage rooms, and three post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) beds. We deliver approximately 5,000 babies per year. Job ID : LP_00025887-1398

Job Summary The Clinical Nurse II is an RN that practices as a full partner on the health care team and consistently demonstrates safe practice within the organizational professional practice model. The Clinical Nurse II possesses the knowledge, skills and attitude to meet standards for competent professional nursing practice as specified in the Clinical Nurse II job description and reflects the organization’s mission and core values. The Clinical Nurse II independently provides patient care through the nursing process and accepts accountability for the nursing care of assigned patients, who may range in age from infancy to adulthood. The Clinical Nurse II demonstrates the competency domains of Patient and Family Centered Care, Evidence Based Practice and Research, Safety, Continuous Quality Improvement, Teamwork, Technology/Informatics, Professionalism, and Leadership. The nurse works with the inter-professional health care team to coordinate care across the continuum and to provide individualized care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, safety, and age-appropriate considerations. The nurse seeks feedback in leadership roles and ensures compliance with regulatory and accrediting bodies.

Performs all the functions of Clinical Nurse I

PATIENT AND FAMILY CENTERED CARE: Recognizes the patient (or the patient’s designee) as the source of control and full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for the patient’s preferences, values, and needs.

Manages more complex patient care assignments appropriate to skill level

Participates in building consensus and resolving conflict in the context of patient care

Uses clinical experience and historical patient responses to refine practice

Discusses advanced care planning, values and end-of-life care with patients when appropriate

Ensures the systems within the area of practice support patient-centered care

EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE AND RESEARCH: Integrates best current evidence with clinical expertise and patient/family preferences for optimal care

Utilizes the EBP process: generates clinical questions, searches and evaluates evidence, applies to practice

Questions current practice and promotes clinical inquiry

Identifies need for revision of policies and guidelines as appropriate

Locates current evidence and resources related to clinical practice

SAFETY: Minimizes risk of harm to patients, families, providers and self through system effectiveness and performance

Serves as resource for safety concerns

Demonstrates problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills

Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities and possession of licenses/certifications required is qualifying.

Education : Graduate from an accredited nursing program. BSN preferred.

Experience : Minimum of 1.5 years or 18 months of recent L&D experience, preferably in a center serving high-risk patients.

License/Certification :

Registered Nurse by California Board of Registered Nursing

Basic Life Support by American Heart Association (AHA) or RQI Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support

NRP Provider Card by AAP within 90 days of hire

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support by AHA within 90 days of hire or RQI Healthcare Provider Advanced Life Support

Fetal Heart Monitoring (Advanced) by AWHONN

Knowledge and Skills

SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to perform functions as described in the position description addendum

Proficiency in operation of clinical equipment, computers and technology

FISCAL ACCOUNTABILITY AND RESOURCE STEWARDSHIP: Judicious use of materials and supplies

SUPERVISION: May supervise unlicensed assistive personnel as defined by law and policy

Pay Information

Pay Range: Compensation is based on the role's level and requirements. Salary typically ranges from the minimum to midpoint, dependent on education, experience, location, and internal equity. Minimum to Midpoint Range (Hourly): $92.64 to $106.87
