Role Description This is a full‑time remote role for a Low Voltage Technician. The Low Voltage Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low voltage systems including security cameras, access control systems, data cabling, and audio‑visual equipment. Day‑to‑day tasks will involve electrical maintenance, equipment setup, wiring, and ensuring the proper functioning of various low voltage systems.
Qualifications Access Control Systems Experience installing and wiring door hardware (mag locks, strikes, readers, REX sensors, door contacts, power supplies, and controllers such as Brivo, Lenel, or Verkada). Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and integrate systems with fire alarm relays and network infrastructure.
Security Cameras (CCTV/IP) Proficient in mounting, cabling, terminating, and configuring IP cameras (NVR/VMS setup, lens focusing, and aiming). Familiar with PoE, analog‑to‑IP conversions, and network switch setup for surveillance systems.
Structured Cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a) Skilled in pulling, terminating, labeling, and testing data and voice cabling. Understanding of proper bend radius, pathway management, and certification testing using a Fluke or equivalent.
Fiber Optic Cabling Experience with single‑mode and multi‑mode fiber installation, splicing, polishing, and testing. Ability to identify connectors (LC, SC, ST) and interpret fiber paths on construction drawings.
Additional Audio‑Visual Experience Experience with conference room setups, digital signage, amplifiers, ceiling speakers, video walls, and HDMI distribution. Knowledge of signal flow, terminations, and rack equipment layout.
Rack Building & Termination
Ability to build, dress, and power‑manage network or A/V racks; familiarity with patch panels, grounding, and labeling standards.
