Associate or Full Professor - Criminal Justice PhD Program at The City University of New York. The interdisciplinary Criminal Justice Doctoral Program at CUNY invites applications for a joint appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at the CUNY Graduate Center and at John Jay College (home department to be determined)." Position begins in Fall 2026. The successful candidate will have an international reputation for innovative, sustained, and influential research in interdisciplinary criminal justice issues and a strong quantitative research background. The appointment supports the College’s research focus for its doctoral program. Position Details
Home departments may include: Criminal Justice; Law, Police Science and Criminal Justice Administration; Sociology; Political Science; Africana Studies; Latin American and Latinx Studies. Personnel matters are handled through the home department. Responsibilities
Demonstrate Research Excellence: Maintain an outstanding agenda resulting in high-impact publications and national/international recognition. Teach at the Graduate Center and at John Jay: Teach, mentor, and supervise doctoral students, chair dissertation committees, and serve as a faculty research advisor. The position requires teaching two classes per semester (split between the Doctoral Program and John Jay College offerings through the home department). Seek External Funding: Actively seek external research funding and grants to support the candidate’s work and doctoral student research. Engage in Service: Actively participate in PhD program activities and service in the home department. Candidates are expected to bring enthusiasm and commitment to teaching and to maintaining an active research and publication agenda. The successful candidate should be eager to work with a diverse student body and contribute to John Jay College’s culture of inclusive excellence. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (Required): Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution. A distinguished record of scholarly achievement and publication sufficient to merit appointment with tenure at the Associate or Full Professor rank in the CUNY system. Demonstrated capacity to teach successfully at both undergraduate and graduate (Ph.D.) levels. Compensation
