Overview The Department of Environmental Quality is looking to fill an Xray and Technical Support Program Manager position in the Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control.

Job Description The X-ray and Technical Support Program Manager role leads a diverse team responsible for regulatory compliance and enforcement within the X-ray program. Additionally, the position provides crucial technical support to the Division, addressing database, software, and other project needs. Key responsibilities include actively identifying and solving problems, and implementing continuous improvement projects; fostering a culture of teamwork and professional development; setting goals to establish priorities, manage resources, developing concepts, reviewing project progress, and communicating expectations clearly to staff; performing database administration, including development, quality control, maintenance, data pulls, and migrations; leading teams to prioritize, develop, and execute work that delivers technology solutions to the Division, utilizing Salesforce and other database and software tools.

Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have the following:

An ability to lead a team of professionals, demonstrate teamwork, and coordinate with other teams.

An ability to coach, mentor, develop, and discipline employees, if needed.

An ability to comprehend and effectively communicate complex information to a variety of stakeholders.

An ability to ensure day-to-day work is in alignment with the division's strategic direction

Knowledge about computer software, including applications and programming.

Knowledge of standard database management processes and procedures.

Knowledge of Salesforce Applications.

Knowledge of Adobe Professional Products.

Knowledge of and experience using electronic document management systems.

The ability to clearly communicate information and ideas both verbally and in writing.

The ability to imagine and visualize what something will look like based on a written or verbal description.

The ability to determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations and the environment will affect outcomes.

The ability to identify and evaluate complex problems related to data management and to develop, evaluate and implement solutions.

Preferences Preference may be given to those with a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, Data Science/Analytics or closely related fields. Preference may also be given to those who have a bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering or related field.

Work Location This position may be eligible for a hybrid of both in-office/hybrid work schedule (2 days a week required in office and any mandatory in office meetings) and remote workdays (work must be performed in Utah). Our office is located at 195 North 1950 West, Salt Lake City, Utah. A position's eligibility for remote work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason. Under Administrative Rule R13-4 all work must be performed within the State of Utah. Employees should reside in Utah or be in the process of relocating to within 30 days of their start date.
