Full-time, Monday–Friday About the Role
We are seeking a
Protection & Control Engineer
to support engineering conceptual design, studies, calculations, and protective relay settings development for substation protection systems. This position focuses on applying new protective relaying for both existing infrastructure and new transmission system capital investments. You will also provide relay settings support, troubleshoot protection systems, and develop/maintain protective device settings templates (e.g., transmission line, transformer, bus, and capacitor protection). Key Responsibilities
Perform engineering conceptual design, studies, and calculations for substation protection systems. Develop protective relay settings for new and existing transmission infrastructure. Provide troubleshooting and support for protection systems. Create and maintain relay settings templates (line, transformer, bus, capacitor, breaker failure, etc.). Manage and respond to protection system settings tasks within the team’s planner tool. Field requests from Account Management, Distribution, Transmission Planning, and System Performance teams. Support Transmission Capital projects. Perform QA reviews of OLR files and protection system settings. Required Qualifications
Experience in the
utility industry . Familiarity with software tools such as:
Aspen Relay Database Aspen OneLiner CymTCC SEL-5010 / SEL-5030 AcSELerator software
Knowledge of
NERC Compliance Standards , including (but not limited to):
PRC-006, PRC-023, PRC-025, PRC-026, PRC-027 CIP-010, CIP-002 FAC-008
Familiarity with electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based relays. Understanding of relay protection schemes and relay logic for applications such as:
Transmission lines Transformers Buses Breaker failure Capacitors
