The Process Engineer will be responsible for evaluating, improving, and implementing production processes that enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure consistent product quality. This role will be instrumental in the planning and transition of Carmi Flavors’ manufacturing operations from Commerce to Huntington Beach, including production layout design, workflow optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives rooted in lean manufacturing principles.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze and optimize production workflows, equipment placement, and material flow to maximize throughput and reduce bottlenecks.
Lead process improvement initiatives using Lean, Kaizen, and 5S methodologies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Quality, R&D, Maintenance) to implement process changes that improve efficiency, safety, and consistency.
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing and material handling.
Support facility relocation planning — including layout design, equipment transfer sequencing, and minimizing downtime during the move.
Collect and analyze production data to identify opportunities for improvement and cost savings.
Partner with leadership to establish performance metrics and monitor progress on key initiatives.
Ensure compliance with applicable food safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (or related field).
3+ years of experience in manufacturing process engineering, ideally in food, beverage, or chemical production environments.
Proven expertise with Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma, or 5S continuous improvement frameworks.
Strong analytical and project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
Experience in facility layout, equipment planning, and process flow optimization.
Proficiency with CAD or layout visualization tools preferred.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to thrive in a hands-on, fast-paced production environment and adapt to changing priorities.
