Corrections & Custody Officer 1 (DOC WFSE Range 45 Step J-M) and Corrections & Custody Officer 2 (DOC WFSE Range 53 Step H-M). CO1 Full-time - $5,209 - $5,610 CO1 On-call/Hourly - $29.94 - $32.24 CO2 Full-time - $6,043 - $6,832 CO2 On-call/Hourly - $34.73 - $39.26 Qualifications

To qualify at the Corrections and Custody Officer 2 (CO2) level you must meet the following qualifications: One year of experience as a Department of Corrections (DOC) Corrections and Custody Officer, including successful completion of CORE (Academy) and the Correctional Officer Field Training Program. Or one year of experience as a Correctional Officer in adult or juvenile corrections where security functions were performed equivalent to a DOC Corrections and Security Officer 2. Note:

This job class is designated as in-training. The employee will advance to CO2 after satisfactory completion of the CO1 training requirements. On-Call Positions

On-call staff may have the opportunity to work an average of 32-40 hours per week, with no minimum hour guarantee. Training: 6 weeks of full-time paid training immediately upon hire. Benefits: medical, dental, vision and retirement, as well as paid sick leave, holiday pay and paid vacation, provided they work at least 20 hours or more per week. The Washington State Department of Corrections is seeking motivated individuals for the positions of Correctional Officer 1 and/or 2 at the Bellingham Reentry Center (BRC) in Bellingham, WA. BRC is staffed 24/7. The on-call/intermittent positions have no minimum hour guarantee. Custody Level: Minimum security. Residents: Male and female facility. BRC is located in the northwest corner of Washington state, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, in a two-building campus in a downtown college area of Bellingham. BRC has operated since 1976 and in its current location since 1981. The primary goal is to improve public safety by positively changing lives, supporting residents’ reestablishment of positive family ties, access to employment and education, and other services aiding transition back to the community. In an adult correctional facility, Correctional Officers provide safety and security and assist in controlling, directing, and monitoring the activities and movement of incarcerated individuals in accordance with established department methods and procedures. Officers are expected to be role models, use interpersonal and communication skills to support positive change, and maintain safe confinement environments to facilitate re-entry. Overtime is an essential function of this position. Officers must complete Correctional Worker Core (CWC), a six-week academy for all correctional workers employed in DOC prison facilities. The work can be physically demanding. Review the training description and requirements. A background check will be conducted prior to hire.
