We have an immediate position available for a full-time Staff Accountant at a non‑profit safety net organization with government and private funding.
Responsibilities include accounts payable, accounts receivable, QuickBooks entry, processing donor and other financial transactions, and entering into QuickBooks. Reconciling bank and credit card statements and earned income receipts. Processing payroll with an outside firm. Assisting with compiling and preparing government reporting backup documentation. Invoicing. Processing financial assistance requests. Position is full‑time and starts immediately. Workload is steady. We want someone who is looking for a long‑term home and wants to grow with our organization.
Applicants MUST have substantial QuickBooks experience and be proficient in using it.
Responsibilities
Perform the daily internal bookkeeping tasks including:
Recording daily transactions in QuickBooks Online (Deposit, Income, Expenses)
Printing checks and other documents
Preparing monthly and quarterly grants invoices
Following check and cash handling procedures
Reporting daily check payment notifications to the bank
Assisting the Finance Director with monthly bank account reconciliation
Assisting the Finance Director with accounting or documentation problem research
Assisting the Finance Director with audits
Monitoring and following the aging reports for Accounts payable and receivable
Monitoring bank and credit card activities, paying off balances for credit cards regularly
Assisting the Finance Director with reviewing payroll allocation
Assisting the Finance Director with preparing and reviewing the drawdown spreadsheet
Answering phone calls and emails from management and other departmental personnel
Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles
Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions
Working closely with the Finance Director, the Executive Director, the CPA, the Auditors, and the Grant Administrator on various task requests
Key Skills
Accounts Receivable: Invoicing, payment tracking, collections, aging analysis, and financial reporting. Ensuring accurate and timely receivable management, forecasting positive customer relations, and compliance with financial standards.
Account Payable: Receiving and reviewing invoices, ensuring accuracy, coding, processing invoices, and coordinating with vendors for issue resolution.
Proficiency in financial and accounting processes.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Knowledge of tax and compliance regulations.
Data analysis and financial reporting skills.
Knowledge of cash flow forecasting.

The staff member is also required to have a car that may occasionally be used for work. Mileage will be reimbursed.
Starting salary is $75,000–$85,000 annually, with a 403(b) contribution and matching, medical, dental, and vision benefits, as well as generous paid time off.
