StethX
MEMS Design Engineer
Job description
StethX Microsystems – MEMS Design Engineer
Location: Atlanta, Georgia
StethX Microsystems is a start-up company actively developing the next-generation MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical systems) inertial and acoustic sensors for medical and defense applications. As a StethX team member, you will be joining us in an entrepreneurial and collaborative environment to challenge the status quo and develop advanced MEMS devices for emerging applications.
The position involves interfacing with a fast-paced R&D team. The MEMS Design Engineer will work on the design, modeling, characterization, and analysis of MEMS devices while collaborating closely with other process, system, and ASIC designers.
Responsibilities
Performing finite-element simulations of MEMS sensors to improve existing MEMS sensor designs and developing new designs
Generating design review reports and documentation of design details
Developing models (Verilog-A model, reduced-order model, etc.) of MEMS devices for package and system-level simulations
Conducting yield and performance characterizations of MEMS inertial and acoustic sensors with both discrete electronics and interface ASICs, documentation of measurement results and generating in-depth analysis and assessment, and developing design solutions for issues identified
Collaborating with process engineers and ASIC designers to improve yield and performance of complete sensor systems
Providing direct oral and written communication updates regarding activities
Assistance in generating technical reports and presentations
Qualifications
Masters or PhD degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Material Engineering, Physics, or related field
Knowledge of MEMS, inertial sensor operation principles and MEMS fabrication processes
Experience in finite-element simulations in particular COMSOL and/or ANSYS
Strong troubleshooting skills for developing and debugging simulations and experiments
Experience in Verilog-A model development is desirable
Experience with electrical test equipment such as oscilloscope, signal generator, network analyzer, lock-in amplifier, temperature chamber, rate table, and data acquisition system is desirable
Basic programming skills using software such as LabVIEW, C/C++ and or Matlab is desirable
Hands on experience in developing test setups for sensors is desirable
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Exceptionally organized and driven by results
Candidate should be self-motivated and be able to work independently and collaboratively
