Risk Advisory Senior Consultant

What You Will Do
Work closely with client executives and management teams to understand their businesses and assist in identifying and managing financial and operational risks within their business processes and systems.
The position is part of the financial services risk advisory team serving the banking industry in a variety of compliance-based requirements and other advisory work. The role will assist in model validation and financial analysis engagements that are highly data driven and involve both cash-flow based software and spreadsheet-based modeling.
Involves CECL (Current Expected Credit Loss) consulting and validation services, including back-testing, stress-testing and qualitative factor framework development.
Perform CECL model validations using cash flow-based software to replicate and test clients’ CECL reserve.
Perform CECL advisory-related engagements including back-testing, stress-testing, and qualitative factor framework development.
Conduct validations on other major financial and forecasting models (Asset/Liability Management, Liquidity, Mortgage Servicing Rights, Deposit-based, and underwriting-based models).
Develop and maintain relationships with senior executives of top community banks and credit unions nationwide.
Maintain and expand knowledge base in area of expertise; participate in continuing education, professional organizations, independent study, etc.
Review financial institution model governance programs related to credit, interest rate, and liquidity risk to identify gaps and convey best practices.
Analyze large sets of financial data to identify value-add observations and trends.
Demonstrate willingness to grow and develop skills through external and internal education, training and cross-training opportunities.
Utilize entrepreneurial skills to network and build strong relationships with clients internally and externally.
Support the growth and development of team members through Baker Tilly Care and Teach philosophy, helping associates meet their professional goals.
Engage in team activities and initiatives that support work-life balance and collaboration.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics or a related program
2-4+ years of financial analyst experience
Strong Microsoft Excel skills
Experience with Power BI, Tableau and/or SQL preferred
Experience as a client-serving professional for a consulting firm desired
Excellent analytical, technical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
Exceptional verbal and written communication, collaboration, and time management skills
