Overview

We are seeking an

Appian Developer

to lead development and enhancement initiatives for mission-critical Department of Defense (DoD) Business Process Management systems within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) GovCloud environment. This role focuses on configuration, integration, testing, and modernization of the Electronic Business process Module and related acquisition systems using the Appian low-code/no-code platform. Location: Offsite. This role serves as a senior software developer and technical team leader specializing in low-code/no-code platform development, with primary focus on resolving complex software problems, leading development teams, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The position requires expertise in modern low-code/no-code platforms, particularly Appian, to support the DoD acquisition system and related systems. The role involves leading development projects, mentoring junior developers, participating in software documentation efforts, and ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet Government requirements and industry best practices. Responsibilities

Lead development projects and mentor junior developers in a DoD acquisition environment. Develop modular, distributable code on the Appian platform to support multiple partners across the federal acquisition community. Configure, test, and modernize DoD BPM systems and related applications in AWS GovCloud. Participate in software documentation efforts and ensure deliverables meet government requirements and industry best practices. Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to security, compliance, and quality standards. Qualifications

Low-Code/No-Code Platform Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Appian and other platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Nintex, OutSystems, Mendix); deep understanding of BPMN standards and tools; workflow automation and process orchestration; platform administration, configuration, and optimization. Software Development & Programming: API development and integration; RESTful and SOAP web services; microservices and containerization; SDLC; version control (Git, SVN); CI/CD practices. Database & Data Management: MS SQL Server development/administration; data modeling; SQL programming; ETL; data security and access control; .NET development (C#, ASP.NET, .NET Framework/Core); Azure cloud services; Visual Studio; PowerShell scripting. Agile Development Methodologies: Agile principles, Scrum/Kanban, Agile ceremonies, user stories, Jira/Azure DevOps. Technical Leadership & Team Management: Lead and mentor teams; task assignment and progress monitoring; architecture guidance; code reviews; capacity planning and resource allocation. Problem-Solving & Analysis: Troubleshooting, root cause analysis, performance tuning, load testing, scalable design, exception handling. Security & Compliance: Secure coding, government security requirements, security testing, RBAC, data privacy, government contracting standards, and DoDAF/TOGAF familiarity as applicable. Documentation & Communication: Technical writing, specifications, training materials, and ability to convey technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. Security Clearance: IT-II Non-Critical Sensitive clearance or Tier 3 (T3) or higher at time of proposal submission. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or related field; Appian Certified Senior Developer; related government contracting experience; cloud platform experience (AWS/Azure/GCP); DevSecOps practices; DoD/agency requirements; PMP or equivalent; enterprise architecture knowledge (DoDAF/TOGAF); mentoring experience.
