About The Role CLA is looking to hire an Employment Tax Senior for our Talent Solutions practice. The Employment Tax Senior engages in client consultations and employment tax assistance around payroll tax law, payroll tax filings, and amendments. They will serve as the internal subject matter expert (SME) for U.S. payroll taxes, working closely with CLA’s Talent Solutions Human Resources Systems and Payroll team and CLA’s Business Operations Outsourcing team.

As An Employment Tax Senior, You Will

Work with CLA’s ADP payroll hub clients on taxing issues and project‑manage direct ADP interactions to resolve payroll tax matters, providing guidance on proper U.S. employment tax treatment and resolution.

Assist with client state registration and assess employment tax issues as they arise.

Serve as a firm‑wide resource for payroll/employment tax assistance, including support for the firm’s payroll tax help group, development of payroll tax resources and training materials, and consulting for special projects.

Provide insight into best‑practice development, policies, and procedures to ensure consistent, high‑quality client experiences for all tax filings, researching payroll tax notices and necessary amendments/abatement letters.

Act as a resource to clients on employment tax matters as requested, partnering with the payroll outsourcing implementation team to ensure accurate tax setup on new payroll clients, collaborating on year‑end fringe benefit additions, third‑party sick pay, voluntary unemployment contributions, and officer exclusions.

Participate in payroll hub team meetings, provide training and individual support as needed.

Ensure accurate and timely payroll tax filings, notices, regulation changes, and payments for our payroll clients; research and follow up on tax notices, troubleshoot, and prepare amended returns. Process all multi‑state quarterly tax filings and single‑state filings with the Employment Tax team, handle federal and state tax deposits and state batch filings, and e‑file as required.

What You Will Need

Six years of experience in payroll processing and employment tax.

Bachelor’s Degree required; accounting or related field preferred. Combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

CPA, CPP, or EA preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, and HCM/payroll software.
