Acute Care Advanced Practice Provider - Neuroendovascular Stroke - MedStar Health
MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center (MFSMC), a member of MedStar Health, is seeking an experienced nurse practitioner to join their multidisciplinary team focused on state‑of‑the‑art stroke management. The NP will be a first responder for stroke patients presenting to the emergency department, perform initial and ongoing assessments, initiate acute TPA orders and diagnostic imaging studies, and develop diagnostic treatment plans in collaboration with attending neurovascular interventionalists, stroke neurologists, and neurocritical care specialists. The NP may also assist with patient management in the interventional suite.
The ideal candidate will have at least two years of tertiary‑level inpatient experience in neurology, neurosurgery, or stroke‑related areas. The role supports the growth of the neurovascular intervention program as MFSMC pursues Comprehensive Stroke Certification.
Responsibilities
First responder for stroke patients in the ED.
Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments.
Initiate acute TPA orders and coordinate diagnostic imaging.
Develop and implement treatment plans with neurovascular interventionalists, stroke neurologists, and neurocritical care specialists.
Assist with patient management in the interventional suite.
Contribute to program growth and expansion of neurovascular interventions.
Qualifications
Experienced nurse practitioner with at least two years of tertiary‑level inpatient neurology, neurosurgery, or stroke‑related experience.
First‑responder experience in emergent stroke care.
Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
Strong clinical assessment and decision‑making skills.
Schedule Four 10‑hour rotating shifts per week.
