Arbor Crew Leader – Landsystems – A Monarch Landscape Company

Pay Range:

$27.00/hr – $40.00/hr (Base pay – additional variable compensation available)

Summary Responsible for directing crew activities on site according to established schedules, standards, and procedures to deliver high‑quality service under the supervision of the Arbor Foreman and Arbor District Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Understand and implement job specifications for each site.

Assign daily tasks to crew members and ensure compliance.

Lead daily stretch and flex practices.

Conduct and submit daily job‑site safety briefings.

Safely climb trees using hooks, belts, or ladders and demonstrate practical knowledge of climbing techniques.

Complete daily paperwork timely and accurately.

Update project progress through ArborNote Works program twice daily.

Report equipment needing repair or maintenance to the shop mechanic.

Supervise safe loading and unloading of equipment.

Discuss job‑site observations with the Arbor Foreman.

Trim and reshape trees, remove low hanging branches, and conduct cable, brace, tie, bolt, stake, and guy tree operations.

Cut away dead and excess branches using climbing equipment or chainsaws and other cutting tools.

Lower branches with rope or block‑and‑tackle systems.

Transplant and remove trees and shrubs, preparing trees for moving.

Operate shredding and chipping equipment safely, including feeding brush and limbs into machines.

Safely operate arbor vehicles and equipment such as boom trucks, loaders, stump chippers, brush chippers, tractors, sprayers, power saws, chainsaws, pole pruners, backpack blowers, and hand tools.

Inspect trees for disease or pest problems.

Clean, sharpen, and lubricate tools and equipment.

Adhere to company dress code, punctuality, weather, and sick‑leave policies.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises an Arbor crew of 2–6 people.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

Clear branches around power lines and broken wires.

Educate the public on work being performed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education:

At least two years of professional tree‑work experience.

Language Skills:

Effective communication in English is required; bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

Valid driver’s license, current CPR & First Aid certification, aerial rescue certification, ISA Certified Tree Worker Certification, TCIA certificates (Crew Leader, Chipper Operator Specialist, Crane Operations Specialist, Chainsaw Operation Specialist, Safety Specialist) as applicable.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Basic tree care principles, pruning techniques, tree ID, and disease ID.

Tree climbing (above 15 ft), cabling, and safety procedures.

Safe work practices, proper PPE, hazard recognition, and emergency tree rescue procedures.

Excellent customer service skills, courtesy, efficiency, and professionalism.

Physical Demands

Frequent tree climbing, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, crouching, lifting, and moving 25–50 lb.

Manual tasks in varied weather conditions.

Exposure to loud noise, fumes, and chemicals.
