Provides 24/7 strategic leadership, direction, support, accountability, and management of the OR Sterile Processing Department (OR SPD) including decontamination processes and sterile processing in compliance with applicable regulatory standards. Reviews and evaluates department performance reports, usage reports and other fiscal documents for adherence to hospital goals and directives. Assists the Associate Director for OR Sterile Processing in accomplishing strategic and operational objectives; ensures quality and functional excellence. Supervises OR SPD technicians and OR SPD staff to achieve established operational performance and quality goals. Manages all collection, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, high‑level disinfection, distribution and inventory management of equipment, supplies, and sets managed by OR SPD. Presents sterile processing information and data to senior leadership, physicians, clinicians, and staff in a timely and efficient manner. Collaborates with OR personnel to improve processes and workflow related to OR SPD. Recommends and manages modifications to policies and procedures, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection prevention standards for OR SPD. Analyzes inventory reports to identify opportunities for improvement and initiates corrective actions to restore inventory balance. Provides recommendations for tray configuration changes and instrumentation inventory levels; utilizes the instrument tracking system to manage workflow and track inventory data. Ensures compliance with regulatory and professional standards and maintains operational procedures in line with CMS, TJC, AAMI, AORN, and APIC guidelines. Maintains continued education and proficiency in Sterile Processing operations; serves as a technical expert on product reprocessing, decontamination, and sterilization. Demonstrates department processes to staff and develops a comprehensive departmental orientation for new staff. Coordinates training and competency validation for staff and ensures adherence to technical and safety standards; provides or coordinates training on new products, procedures and equipment. Schedules staff to ensure instrumentation availability for cases; monitors labor and expense budgets and maintains performance reports and staff attendance records. Maintains communication with physicians, department management, staff and vendors; represents OR SPD in department meetings. Protects staff and facility by following policies to prevent spread of bloodborne and/or airborne diseases. Provides annual performance reviews and delivers corrective actions when needed. Supports major projects and makes department decisions in the absence of the Associate Director. Qualifications

Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Degree required. Ability to manage day-to-day operations of a busy centralized sterile processing department; able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment. Expert knowledge in sterilization and high-level disinfection processes. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Experience in developing a strong team environment and in training/teaching in a clinical setting. Active certification in sterile processing/central sterile via CBSPD or IAHCSMM is required. Additional certification for SPD Management/Leadership must be obtained within 12 months of hire. Essential Functions

Ensure compliance with regulatory and professional standards. Lead inventory optimization and tray/instrument management. Ensure quality control and quality assurance across OR SPD activities and equipment. Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies and IFU requirements. Support ongoing education and competency validation for staff; lead departmental orientation. Monitor staffing, scheduling, and budgets; maintain performance and attendance reports. Communicate with physicians and management; participate in department meetings. Uphold safety standards to protect patients and staff. Provide performance feedback and assist in leadership development. Work Environment
