Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 6658) at GameStop. The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations, develops a sales culture, and provides outstanding guest service experiences. Supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions/concerns quickly and courteously, assist guests with video gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, recommend items, apply selling behaviors during every transaction, and thank guests for shopping at GameStop. Support the shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/returns using the POS system accurately, including bagging merchandise, providing receipts, and maintaining top-notch guest service. Respond to guest comments or questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate. Promote GameStop’s guest benefits such as new title reservations, trade-ins, and Pro Rewards. Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates in policies and procedures. Observe associate performance and provide timely feedback; address unsatisfactory performance as directed. Provide recognition and feedback to store associates; input written feedback into Workday/HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure onboarding, job training, and compliance training are completed prior to opening/closing shifts; ensure associates know all policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethics. Schedule store associates, manage breaks; supervise staffing to maintain exceptional guest service. Approve payroll, manage time off, and verify pay for time worked. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily. Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention practices; communicate concerns to the Store Manager. Support the store in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties. Conduct inventory counts, restock merchandise, and ensure products are represented and organized. Count, balance, and reconcile daily transactions in the POS; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits per guidelines. Verify shipments, record discrepancies, and conduct inventories as needed. Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls accurately with proper labeling and packing lists. Maintain associate and guest safety; report injuries per guidelines. Keep store records/files organized; ensure manuals are up to date. Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Adhere to GameStop policies and the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct. Open and close procedures as required. Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Outgoing and welcoming personality with strong people skills. Provide genuine and individualized assistance to every guest. Clear verbal and written communication skills in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and both independently and in a team. Meet performance expectations, including attendance, appearance, safety, and respectful workplace. Operate POS system and perform basic math and alphabetizing. Complete required paperwork and follow written or diagrammatic instructions. Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days/week). Ability to manage pressure and adapt to situations; be a problem solver and reliable. Able to work alone and stand/move for long periods; safely lift up to 30 lbs.
