We’re looking for a Fractional Controller to bring rigor, structure, and clarity to Lemon’s financial operations. You’ll oversee accounting across multiple Lemon entities, ensuring clean books, timely reporting, and seamless collaboration with our external tax firm.
This is a hands-on role for someone who loves the details but also understands how financial structure fuels creative scale.
Overview
Lemon is seeking a Fractional Controller to manage accounting across corporate entities, maintain clean books, and deliver timely reporting while working with an external tax firm. Responsibilities
Accounting & Reporting Manage accounting across Lemon’s corporate entities. Maintain the general ledger and reconcile accounts monthly. Lead month-end close, including revenue recognition, expense accruals, and intercompany entries. Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements. Maintain and update Lemon’s financial model and management reports. Accounts Payable & Cash Management Process vendor payments and credit card transactions. Oversee AP, reimbursements, and invoice coding in Ramp and QuickBooks. Monitor cash position and upcoming obligations. Tax & Compliance Liaise with Lemon’s external tax firm. Manage quarterly and year-end filings. Prepare and issue W-9s and 1099s. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements. Systems & Process Improvement Optimize QuickBooks Online setup and chart of accounts. Implement and document financial controls and approval workflows. Identify opportunities to streamline and automate recurring tasks. Partner with the COO on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Provide light investor and leadership reporting as needed. Contribute to process documentation and team training for continuity. Who You Are
7–10 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a creative or service-based environment. Deep understanding of accrual accounting, revenue recognition, and financial statement preparation. Comfortable managing multi-entity books and intercompany activity. Proficient in QuickBooks Online and Excel/Google Sheets; familiarity with Monday.com or Justworks is a plus. Detail-oriented, self-directed, and able to manage priorities independently on a part-time schedule. A collaborative, trustworthy partner who thrives in a small, fast-moving team.
