Job Description Brown University Athletics and Recreation is currently seeking candidates for the Fitness and Wellness Coordinator position. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, and a member of the Ivy League, our intercollegiate athletics program consists of 34 varsity teams with approximately 1,000 athletes who participate within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA-D1).
Responsibilities
Daily administration, staffing, and programming of the Nelson Fitness Center.
Administration of the Fitness Assistant and Fitness Supervisor positions.
Support the Fitness and Wellness Manager in special events and programming in the Nelson Fitness Center and on the Brown University Campus.
Manage equipment repairs and preventative maintenance.
Assist in development, implementation, promotion, safe operation, and evaluation of recreation/fitness services for students, faculty, staff, and recreation members.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Sports Management, Kinesiology, Recreation, Administration, or a related field.
1-2 years of related experience with progressive responsibility in fitness and collegiate recreation.
Knowledge of business operations, financial operations, scheduling and facility operations, and risk management preferred.
Current certification from NSCA, NASM, ACE, or ACSM preferred.
Demonstrated expertise in current fitness and wellness programming trends including fitness testing, leading group fitness and/or personal training.
Experience with marketing and social media promotional campaign management. Website content management experience, helpful.
Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and knowledge or experience with the complexities of diversity strategies in University Athletics and Recreation.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to think programmatically, expansively and creatively to help develop clear goals and outcomes for programs.
Compliance and Eligibility All division employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations; the duties of the position are to be performed in compliance with all NCAA, Ivy League rules and regulations. Any rules violations on behalf of themselves or any knowledge of violations within the division must be reported to the compliance office and appropriate parties. Employees in coaching positions must receive annual rules education on NCAA legislation related to recruiting by the compliance office and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Division).
