Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. The role develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for guests and providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and shared passion for gaming. You will be responsible for ensuring products are easy to see and buy, building sales by sharing product knowledge with guests, maintaining a clean and organized store, and growing guest loyalty and repeat business. This position supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Responsibilities

Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions/concerns promptly and courteously, assist with gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, suggest additional items, and thank guests for shopping at GameStop. Support the shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/returns using the POS system accurately, including handling changes, bagging merchandise, providing receipts, and maintaining guest service quality. Respond to guest questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate. Promote GameStop guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations, trade-ins, Pro Rewards). Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on policies, procedures, and guidelines. Observe associate performance, provide feedback, and address issues to align with guest service expectations. Provide recognition and feedback to associates; document feedback in Workday/HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training before opening/closing shifts; knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethics is required. Schedule store associates to follow guidelines, manage breaks, and maintain optimum guest service levels. Approve payroll, manage time off and edits, and verify compensation for time worked. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure equipment is in working order. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily. Protect assets through inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages at closing and report concerns to the Store Manager. Support sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative tasks. Conduct store inventory counts, restock, and organize merchandise for easy access. Balance and reconcile daily transactions in the POS system; manage closeout paperwork and cash deposits according to guidelines. Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct inventories and communicate issues to the Store Manager/District Manager. Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls with proper labeling and packing lists. Maintain guest and associate safety; report injuries per guidelines. Assist in maintaining store records; keep manuals up to date. Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct. Adhere to opening and closing procedures. Qualifications

Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Outgoing, welcoming personality with strong people skills; provide genuine assistance to guests. Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and perform tasks independently or in a team. Meet performance expectations including attendance, safety, and respectful workplace. Operate the POS system and perform basic math and sorting tasks. Complete required paperwork accurately and follow written or verbal instructions. Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days/week availability. Ability to work alone and stand/move for extended periods; lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed. Onboarding knowledge in military base locations (where applicable).
