This role will be based at Archer’s headquarters in San Jose, California.

What You’ll Do

Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all Weld related processes across Powertrain Manufacturing

Primarily responsible for developing process parameters, qualification and deployment of all weld joints across Powertrain components

Provide DFM feedback to the Product Design team as it relates to Weld Joints

Author Material & Process Specifications that act as governing documents for Weld Joints

Determine the requirements for automation, tools, stands, fixtures, etc for Weld related equipment

Conduct process failure mode and analysis (PFMEA) for Weld related equipment

Develop Specifications and drive the RFQ process for automated production equipment as it relates Weld processes

Develop Work Instructions for Weld Process Equipment

Oversee Final Acceptance Testing of manufacturing equipment as it related to welding

Support first unit builds and testing of the production system

Develop and improve equipment validation procedures including calibration and qualification

Undertake handoff of fully validate equipment to the Operations team

What You Need

Bachelor’s degree (Advanced degree preferred) in Weld Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

3-6 years work experience in welding applications (High volume EV Preferred)

Strong knowledge of ASW Specifications and Qualification Procedures

3-6 years experience with Laser, TIG, MIG & Ultrasonic Welding

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Effective organizational and time management skills

Efficient documentation and written communication

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team

Ability to work in a fast paced and highly regulated environment with adaptability to changing priorities

Direct hands on build experience with welding

Demonstrated experience in statistical process control and GD&T

Experience developing production lines from prototype to mass production

Experience commissioning and improving Equipment. Have a demonstrated track record of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvement, Preventative and Predictive Maintenance activities, preferred

Strong organizational skills

Experience with CAD, PLM, MES, and ERP software

Strong problem-solving skills and an aptitude for learning systems quickly. Able to utilize structured problem-solving techniques such as Lean, six sigma, DMAIC, Ishikawa, Five Why (5W) or Eight Disciplines (8D). Able to resolve high level performance issues into addressable actions, preferred

Bonus Qualifications

Hands-on experience with EV Battery & DU (Drive Unit) manufacturing

Experience working with Trumpf, Coherent, Precitec

Experience programming/troubleshooting industrial automation (PLC, robots, gantries, etc…)

Ability to travel 10% of the time

EV/eVTOL knowledge or experience

Experience with high voltage wiring, batteries, and electric motor

Aircraft configuration management and conformity experience

NX and AutoCAD experience

Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
